Which Fresh Cut Flowers last the longest?

Let us introduce you some of the fresh flowers that can last longer:-

Chrysanthemums

There are different types of chrysanthemums and this flower type often receives a bad press which is largely undeserved. The flower meaning is abundance and wealth. The approx vase life is 14 - 21 days with proper care. When fresh, the flowers will have a hard, tight centre, which will soften as the flower matures. The leaves will turn yellow and wilt before the flowers die

Protea

Protea is a fascinating tropical flower of waxy, scale-like bracts which form a 'cup' around the soft fluffy flowers massed inside. There is huge variety of shapes within the genus. The origin of this flower is South Africa. Protea generate a lot of heat, so to prolong vase life display in cool spot. Protea are thirsty flowers so check water levels daily. Flower food is recommended. Protea can be kept for up to a month.

Tanacetum

Tanacetum is bushy herb of pretty, daisy -like flowers with delicate petals and small button-like centres. The leaves have a citrus scent when crushed. My all-time favourite flower. The origin of this flower is North Europe and Asia. Its citrus qualities make Tanacetum a good insect repellant, and its has numerous uses in herbal medicine. It should not be consumed 'untreated' however. The vase shelf liek is approx 7 - 14 days. Remove all leaves in contact with water and change the water daily and use flower food. Display is cool conditions and keep out of sunlight and direct heat sources. Tanacetum can irritate the skin, so always wash your hands after handling.

Orchids

Orchids are commonly knowns as Cymbidium orchid or Boat orchid. It is showy flowers of five petals surrounding a distinctively marked 'throat'. There are both large and mini varieties with up to 20 heads on a mini stem and 8-12 on a large. The origin of the flower is South East Asia. The vase life is approx 14-21 days. Orchids are sensitive to ethylene gas. If flowers begin to droop, mist to restore humidity.

Carnation

Carnation is a long-standing favourite with a fantastic vase life and available in a huge spectrum of colour. Native to Southern Europe and Asia. The vase life is approx 14-21 days. It is very sensitive to ethylene gas, so ensure flowers have good air circulation at all times. Wilting and browning of flowers is a sign of exposure to ethylene gas. Stems can become slimy if stood in deep water so display in shallow water which should be changed every 3-4 days, recutting stems each time.

Alstroemeria

Bushy headed trumpet-like flowers with distinctive black markings and a yellow throat, which are sometimes mistaken for lilies. Can cause an allergic reaction in some people. Approx vase life is 7-14 days. Remove the majority of leaves from the stem to encourage water to go to the flower heads.
